ROLE FAMILY Technology / Customer Platforms / Salesforce Engineering SUGGESTED LEVEL Engineer / Senior Engineer (calibrate to experience band) CORE PLATFORM Salesforce, with Salesforce Industries (Vlocity / Energy \& Utilities capabilities) WAYS OF WORKING Agile / Scrum, product\-aligned cross\-functional squads, CI/CD Role Summary The Salesforce / Salesforce Industries Engineer designs, builds, tests, deploys and supports secure, scalable Salesforce solutions that improve customer and business journeys across Client’s customer\-platform estate. The role combines hands\-on Salesforce engineering with integration, automation, quality and live\-service ownership, working closely with Product, Architecture, QA, Operations and business stakeholders. Key Responsibilities * Translate functional and non\-functional requirements into maintainable Salesforce solutions, contributing to technical design and task decomposition. * Design, develop, test and deploy Salesforce capabilities using Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), Flows and appropriate declarative configuration. * Configure Salesforce objects, validation rules, automation and workflows while applying an OOTB\-first / best\-practice approach and minimising unnecessary customisation. * Develop and support Salesforce Industries / Vlocity capabilities, including OmniStudio / OmniScripts, Enterprise Product Catalogue (EPC) and Integration Procedures where relevant to the solution. * Build and maintain integrations and APIs between Salesforce and enterprise platforms, using appropriate REST / SOAP, event\-driven or asynchronous integration patterns. * Participate in backlog refinement, sprint planning, technical spikes and implementation discussions; own assigned stories through development, testing and deployment. * Perform peer reviews, uphold coding and configuration standards, and contribute to reusable patterns, engineering guidelines and technical documentation. * Work with QA / QE teams to diagnose defects, support system and user\-acceptance testing, and drive issues through to resolution. * Support production services, including incident investigation, root\-cause analysis, defect resolution and continuous improvement. * Promote secure engineering practices covering access, data quality, performance, resilience, privacy and compliance. * Mentor junior engineers where appropriate and contribute to a collaborative culture of engineering excellence. Technology \& Engineering Scope Area Expected capability Salesforce Core Apex, LWC, SOQL/SOSL, Flows, objects, validation, security and platform best practices Salesforce Clouds Sales Cloud, Service Cloud and Experience Cloud; exposure to other clouds as relevant Salesforce Industries Vlocity / Salesforce Industries; OmniStudio / OmniScripts, EPC and Integration Procedures as applicable Integration REST/SOAP APIs, callouts, enterprise integrations, asynchronous / event\-driven patterns DevOps Git or similar version control; CI/CD pipelines; source\-driven development and release discipline Quality Automated/unit testing, peer review, defect triage, non\-functional requirements and performance awareness Cloud / wider estate AWS and integration with other enterprise platforms such as Microsoft Dynamics may be relevant Operations Production support, monitoring, incident investigation, RCA and continual service improvement Essential / strong fit * Strong hands\-on Salesforce development experience spanning both declarative and programmatic delivery. * Apex and Lightning Web Components (LWC), with solid understanding of Salesforce data model, governor limits, security and platform architecture. * Experience with Sales Cloud and Service Cloud; Experience Cloud knowledge is beneficial. * Practical understanding of Salesforce integrations, APIs and cross\-system data flows. * Working experience with Git or equivalent version control and Agile / Scrum delivery practices. * Ability to write well\-tested, secure, maintainable solutions and participate confidently in code/design reviews. * Good analytical and troubleshooting skills, including the ability to investigate production issues and identify root causes. * Clear communication and collaboration skills across engineering, product, QA and business stakeholder groups. Preferred / differentiators * Salesforce Industries / Vlocity experience, particularly OmniStudio / OmniScripts, EPC and Integration Procedures. * Experience in Energy \& Utilities, retail, complex product configuration, selling or customer\-service journeys. * Exposure to AWS or other cloud services and enterprise integration architecture. * Experience with CI/CD implementation, deployment automation, static analysis or release tooling. * Salesforce certifications appropriate to the level, such as Platform Developer, Platform App Builder, Industries / OmniStudio or related credentials. * Experience mentoring developers and helping establish reusable engineering patterns or standards. Indicative Experience Level For a Senior Engineer / Senior Developer variant, use 5\+ years of Salesforce experience as the benchmark, with a meaningful portion of that experience in production enterprise delivery. For a mid\-level Engineer variant, the experience threshold can be reduced while retaining the same core technical capabilities. Delivery Expectations * Own engineering stories end\-to\-end: understand the requirement, design the solution, implement, test, deploy and support it in production. * Contribute to technical refinement and identify dependencies, risks, integration impacts and non\-functional requirements early. * Use code review and automated testing as normal engineering controls, not as late\-stage quality gates. * Prefer standard Salesforce capabilities where fit\-for\-purpose, and document justified exceptions and custom solutions. * Design for reliability, scalability, security and maintainability, with a clear understanding of the wider customer\-platform ecosystem.
