The team is leading the greenfield native rewrite of Coinbase's retail mobile app in Swift and Kotlin, replacing the existing React Native codebase to deliver a significantly faster experience for millions of customers. As we do so, we need to reinvent our mobile release process from the ground up to ensure each release passes rigorous quality gates before reaching customers. You'll set Coinbase’s Frontend quality bar, translating org-level strategy into the test infrastructure and operational practices that ~30 product teams depend upon.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>What you'll do:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Own the technical strategy for mobile QA infrastructure across the native rewrite, operating at depth across the team's codebases and designing operational practices that lower maintenance and operational overhead while raising release quality.</li> <li>Build and scale automated test systems for recurring regression testing. Before asking for additional headcount, you set and refine what gets automated versus what stays human across regression, performance validation, and release readiness gating.</li> <li>Lead the QA readiness workstream for the phased rollout, driving clarity across success metrics, resourcing, and operations.</li> <li>Guide when to invest more testing resources and when to pull back as quality gains diminish.</li> <li>Partner cross-functionally with engineering leadership, product, and design to define SLOs and quality dashboards that provide the metric-driven controls for rollout speed decisions.</li> <li>Shape the QA onboarding playbook for product teams transitioning to native, setting the team's hiring bar for QA contributors and mentoring L3-L5 engineers on test architecture, native debugging, and quality standards.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Required Skills and Experience:</strong></p> <ul> <li>8+ years of software engineering experience with deep expertise in mobile test infrastructure, including architecting automated regression systems for native iOS and Android at scale.</li> <li>Track record of defining and delivering test infrastructure strategy that other engineering teams depend on.</li> <li>Strong proficiency in Swift and Kotlin with the ability to architect test frameworks, debug native app behavior, and enforce compile-time quality constraints, maintaining standards even in the face of pressure to ship.</li> <li>Experience operating QA processes during large-scale migrations or platform transitions, including managing dual-codebase parity validation, phased rollout quality gates, and leading SEVs and postmortems that improve team practices.</li> <li>Demonstrated ability to build alignment and secure commitment from cross-team and cross-functional partners on quality standards, testing strategy, and release criteria.</li> <li>Uses generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and measurable gains in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.</li> </ul> <p>Job#78559</p><div class="content-pay-transparency"><div class="pay-input"><div class="description"><p><strong>Pay Transparency Notice:</strong><strong><em> </em></strong>Base salary varies by location (see range below).
